the other side of the hajj month

Assalamualaikum and hi brothers and sisters. :)

Yeah, time flies so fast, spm is around the corner (less than 2 months to be more specific), trial was quite hard to handle, eidul adha is coming, and............

What ever that is happening or had happened, i can't (and shouldn't) stop praising Allah swt, despite every difficulties he sent, they all come with ease, Alhamdulillah.

I am pretty sure we rarely heard about the specialties about this hajj month, or more specific in the Zulhijjah except for the obligation of performing hajj for those who are capable in terms of money and health. Well, maybe you might heard about it but it isn't much popular compared to the ramadhan right? Ramadhan is undoubtedly a noble and holy month for the muslim as Allah Azza Wa Jalla has bestow a very special night in it, which it is way better than thousand years-yes, the lailatul qadr.

However, apart from this lailatul qadar, there is also a day where Allah loves the most, which it is in the zulhijjah.

It is during the Arafah day, which is 10 zulhijjah. It is way more special compared to lailatul qadr. Why is that so? It is simply the lailatul qadr is happening within the last 10 days of Ramadhan, some might say it happened during the 23rd of ramadhan, other might say 27th, some also might say 29th, see, we can't never guess when is the right time it occurred, and yes only Allah swt knows better. However, for the day in this zulhijjah, which it is 10th of zulhijjah, we knew it already, it such a special day for us as it is the day Allah favors the most, he forgives our sins and pour His blessing to His beloved servant.

"but how it can be a special day for me while i'm in malaysia and i'm not performing hajj? I can't perform wukuf either during the arafah day."

Allah, Allah, Allah....

Dear brothers and sisters, Allah azza wa jalla know His servant better than we do, He definitely know that some of us are not capable in performing the hajj. Therefore, this specialties are available for the whole muslims, wherever you are, either in the makkah, malaysia, any part of the world, you did a single act of worship or deed, Allah will grant you a big reward. If you used to sadaqah during the normal day, you'll be rewarded 700 times but the if it is in the first 10 days of zulhijjah, it will be tripled (which only Allah swt know how much it cost). Just now, when i was in a class with sheikh Said discussing about this hajj month, he said that during the arafah day, Allah forgives His servant more than during the lailatul qadr, Allahuakbar! Obviously, this shows that Arafah day is very important and special that Allah being so much kind towards this blessed day.

And yeah, it is a sheer waste if we simply ignore this golden opportunity of having Allah's forgiveness right? Here is a checklist of what you should do during the Arafah day :)

  • Fasting

Allahuakbar. We had sins through out the year, but Allah simply expiates it in just one day? And what even great is, we haven't sin yet, but then Allah had promised us to forgive us for the sins we will be committing in the next year? Subhanallah, Allah is the Most loving indeed. However, sheikh said did tell us, that this can't be a ticket for us to have the nawaitu to sin again as Allah had promised us so. Allah won't forgive us if we tend to sin again and again. Yet, this is the opportunity Allah granted us, to encourage us to be a better one in the future. Allahu Allahu Allahu......(for some reason i feel Allah is so much kind. c'; )

  • make as much doa as you can (pray for my spm too anyway hehe)
  • zikr
  • sadaqah (including helping others)
  • increase the recitation of the quran
  • Tasbih (subhanallah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha ilallah allahukbar)

Regarding the tasbih, the sheikh did told us a story of the companion, Saidina Abu Hurairah r.a and Saidana Abdullah. One day, on 10th zulhijjah, they went to the market and tasbih loudly. People eventually got shocked by their act and asked them the reason why they did so, in fact it wasn't eid yet. They said that they knew it but insist to do so as they knew people were engrossed with the dunya and forgot about this big and special day. Well, yeah, to follow their footstep are barely possible nowadays because people might think you are nuts, but then, Sheikh Said said that we can ATLEAST remind others about this and convey dakwah, either through the social site, whatsapp, call, text etc. So yeahhh, start spreading this ilm', insyaallah, it will be counted as sadaqah as well. :)

So, last but not least, happy arafah day and happy eiduladha in advance.
Celebrate it, like you really mean it.
Remember the sacrifices Siti Hajar, Nabi Ismail, and Nabi Ibrahim. Just imagine, a woman who had just given birth was told to be left at such a barren place, no building, no plant, no animal, nothing were seen except the golden sand. And as an obedient servant of Allah Azza Wa Jalla, what did Hajar said?

"If it is command from Allah swt, do it."

Allahu Allahu Allahu......
Look how great was her iman, putting all her trust towards Allah swt, taking the test positively. MashaAllah. And, what even touched my heart was when her son, Nabi Ismail a.s started to cry, wanted to drink so bad. She became very worried and went to the jabal Safa (sheikh told us that the hill we see now is not how it used to look like back in the older days. It is much higher) to find water for his son, and yes, she had to leave her son down the hill as it might be quite difficult to carry him along. As she reached the top, a single droplet of water was found nowhere. In the mean time, she couldnt  hear the moaning sound of her son making her heart raced so fast, worrying about her son. Then she went down the hill and she heard the crying sound from Nabi Ismail. still tho, worries seemed not fading away as she still couldnt find water to be given to Nabi Ismail. Then she headed to Jabal Marwa and that was how it goes, from safa to marwa until she spotted the water came out from Ismail's feet. Allahuu...It definitely a tiring journey! That's why Allah had obligate the muslim to perform sai'e during the umrah as to remind the sacrifice Hajar a.s had made. I've been through the saie before and it took quite a long time to finish my saie, and obviously it was tiring (but wasn't comparable to what Hajar had gone through as the road or path was different, nowadays, it is all clear and even tiled.)

So yeah, let's take this an ibrah and try to sacrifice for the sake of Allah swt.

Wallahualam. :)
